Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond and attend to guest repair requests.
  • Ability to focus attention on detail and accuracy for a great presentation of hotel’s standards of guest experience.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests, anticipate and address guests concerns.
  • Check for new maintenance requests from the PMS (Property Management System) and update remarks once the task is completed.
  • Update the Daily maintenance log and keep track of tasks completed and pending.
  • Ability to interpret readings from meters & gauges and other measuring units.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
  • Ability to work under pressure situations and exercise good judgements. Take time to work through issues and find the proper fix; support is always available with engineering supervisor and Dir. of Facilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.
  • Ability to ensure security of guest room access and hotel property.
  • Ability to read and understand test equipment, measuring devices, and safety manuals.
  • Understanding of guest lock system and procedure for changing locks.
  • Preform maintenance activities in the guest rooms, like plunging toilets, unclogging drains, changing light bulbs, replacing inoperable appliances, repairing all types of hardware and cosmetic items.
  • Perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties, including stocking
  • Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on building equipment. Including; Door locks and handles, door closers, doors, lighting all around property; Guest locks, safes.
  • Repair and maintain hard goods in rooms: Desks, drawers, door hinges, and glass tops.
  • Repair or replace basic plumbing items, including; shower heads, toilet supply hoses, flush valves, shower cartridges, drains, sink drain assemblies, stoppers, and faucets.
  • Clean and help maintain large Heating and Cooling units on property: change filters, check operation – report issues to Eng. Supervisor or Dir. of Facilities.
  • Clean, lubricate, protect, and otherwise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel.
  • Operate as an independent mechanic by analyzing problems, identifying courses of action, and implementing solutions with available resources and to a high degree of quality.
  • Be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect guests and associates and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency.
  • Use carpet extractor machine to clean and extract carpets in the building, rooms, hallways and other areas with carpet installations.
  • Carry out specific oral and written instructions.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
  • Maintains the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner, including exterior maintenance. Removal of leaves in the cold months.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Engineering Supervisor and Dir. of Facilities.

Requirements:

Essential Requirements

  • Flexibility is necessary for this position, including the ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Prior Hotel experience is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Electrical, Mechanical, Wi-Fi systems are a plus.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced role.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
