Position Summary
We are seeking a results-driven and experienced Select Service Hotel General Manager to lead our property to success. The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the hotel's operations, including staff management, guest satisfaction, financial performance, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with a proven track record in the select-service hotel segment, capable of fostering a positive team environment and delivering exceptional operational results.
This position requires a hands-on approach to management, ensuring the property consistently meets and exceeds brand standards and guest expectations. You will serve as the primary ambassador for the hotel, driving revenue, managing costs, and upholding our commitment to quality and service.
Key Responsibilities
As the General Manager, you will be accountable for the following key areas:
Daily Operations & Guest Experience
- Oversee all hotel departments, including front office, housekeeping, maintenance, and food and beverage services, to ensure seamless daily operations.
- Champion a culture of superior guest service, actively engaging with guests to solicit feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Monitor and analyze guest satisfaction metrics (GSS, online reviews) to identify trends and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
- Ensure the property is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and repair, in compliance with all brand and regulatory requirements.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team, providing ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
- Foster a collaborative and empowering work environment that promotes employee morale and retention. Our GMs typically achieve employee satisfaction scores 15% above the industry average.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate goals, celebrate successes, and address operational challenges.
- Manage scheduling, payroll, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies and labor laws.
Financial Management & Revenue Strategy
- Develop and execute the annual operating budget, P&L statements, and capital expenditure plans.
- Drive top-line revenue through effective yield management, sales and marketing initiatives, and local community engagement.
- Manage operational expenses and labor costs to maximize profitability without compromising service or quality. More than 85% of our General Managers consistently meet or exceed GOP targets.
- Prepare and present accurate financial reports, forecasts, and performance analyses to corporate leadership and ownership.
Brand Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Serve as the expert on all brand standards, programs, and initiatives, ensuring full compliance across all departments.
- Successfully lead the property through all brand quality assurance audits and inspections.
- Implement brand-mandated training and service protocols to maintain a consistent and high-quality guest experience.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive hotel management experience, with at least 2 years in a General Manager or Assistant General Manager role, preferably within a select-service environment.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team. Proven experience in staff development and performance optimization.
- Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of hotel financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management principles.
- Operational Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and F&B.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Problem-Solving: Adept at identifying issues, analyzing problems, and implementing effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Property Management Systems (PMS), revenue management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
