JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science degree program.

EXPERIENCE: Completion of freshman year in a four (4) year Engineering/Computer Science Program.


MAJOR JOB TASKS:

  • Support the operation and maintenance of AMI and SCADA systems, including data collection, basic troubleshooting, and reporting.
  • Assist in integrating data across systems like AMI, SCADA, and outage management platforms.
  • Work with engineers and technicians to gather field data, review electrical drawings, and support AMI and SCADA system planning.
  • Link and validate data points within the SCADA system and assist in updating the SCADA display for end users, including the Control Center and System Engineers.
  • Gain hands on experience with software and tools used for system modeling, data analysis, and utility automation.
  • Performs other such duties as requested or required by the position.

The Engineering Intern shall be required to perform any other duties assigned to fulfill the objectives of the Cooperative.


EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Communications Equipment Vendors: Possibility of interfacing with vendors for support of SCADA or AMI hardware and software.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Computer equipment with various engineering and design software as well as standard office equipment. Must have valid driver's license without violation, which would prohibit insurability.
  • Requires ability to be accurate and handle details and meet occasional deadlines. Requires ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, as well as trigonometry. Must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Work is performed mostly in an office environment but may require outdoor field site visits and research. Working outdoors could result in occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions; hot, cold; dry, wet; etc.
