Job Description
Job DescriptionWe're looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and experienced paralegal to play an important role on our legal team. You'll draft legal documents such as affidavits, prepare briefs, conduct legal research for trial preparation, and keep case files and other important information neatly organized and easily accessible. $20 - $25 hourly based upon experience
Responsibilities:
- Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyer
- Arrange law office activity such as drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers
- Hold client interviews to gather information about their legal problems
- Help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses
- Take care of administrative tasks such as answering phones and maintaining an organized filing system for all legal documents
- Provide prompt communication to clients.
- Maintain relevant events, deadlines, and reminders for clients.
- File new and convert entities, amend articles, and perform other entity-related work with little to no supervision.
- Request EINs.
- Draft foundational corporate documents (e.g., operating agreements, resolutions, consents, addendums) for attorney review.
- Prepare demand letters and cease and desist letters.
- Complete applications for government agencies (e.g., liquor licenses, trademark applications, nonprofit filings) for attorney review.
- Draft contract term sheets for client agreements.
Additional Expectations:
- May need to be available for firm events from time to time.
Qualifications:
- Candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have advanced paralegal education will receive preference
- Must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired
- Excellent organizational skills, and time-management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- 3+ years of legal service experience under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, and basic computer skills.
- Experience in a law firm setting.
