Sterling Engineering is looking for a Field Service Engineer to join a rapidly expanding power distribution company serving major data center clients in Columbus, Ohio. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with customers, perform critical on-site support, and represent a respected name in the power distribution space. Job Duties:

  • Provide on-site support for troubleshooting and repairing power distribution systems installed in data warehouses.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with customers during field service calls—displaying strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Travel 100% regionally using personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed); expected workload of 40–50 hours/week with occasional nights, weekends, and holidays (always on-call).
  • Perform system diagnostics, AC/DC power troubleshooting, and break/fix services on electrical panels and power systems.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering and customer service teams to resolve issues in the field efficiently.
  • Maintain detailed service logs, customer communication records, and travel documentation using company-provided systems and tools.


Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience with electrical systems, high-voltage or AC/DC power distribution.
  • Strong understanding of electrical troubleshooting fundamentals—experience in data centers or mission-critical environments is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a customer-facing role with excellent communication skills.
  • Prior military experience is highly preferred.
  • Must be flexible and dependable, willing to work OT and handle emergency call-ins.
