Job Summary:
B&A is looking for an Applications Programmer to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Applications Programmer to serve as a Sustainment Lead or Sustainment Subject Matter Expert (SME). The ideal candidate will bring expert-level knowledge of sustainment life cycle management activities for programs and project operations, combined with advanced technical programming skills. This role involves analyzing complex business applications, developing and refining software solutions, and providing technical direction to ensure the delivery of efficient, high-quality systems.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as Sustainment Lead or SME, providing expert guidance on sustainment life cycle management activities for programs and project operations.
- Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for diverse areas such as finance, accounting, personnel, manpower, logistics, and contracts.
- Develop block diagrams, logic flowcharts, and translate detailed design into computer software.
- Design, code, test, debug, and refine software to meet requirements and enhance system performance.
- Prepare comprehensive program-level and user-level documentation.
- Enhance existing software solutions to reduce operating time and improve efficiency.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to programmers to ensure project deadlines and objectives are met.
- Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems while considering system capacity, operating constraints, and desired outcomes.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology related field with ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- Expert experience and knowledge of sustainment lifecycle management activities for programs and project operations.
- Experience as an application programmer on large-scale DBMS, knowledge of computer equipment, and ability to develop complex software to satisfy design objectives.
- Relevant certification from a nationally recognized technical authority.
Required Skills:
- Sustainment Expertise: Expert knowledge of sustainment life cycle management activities for programs and project operations.
- Programming Experience: Proven experience as an application programmer on large-scale database management systems (DBMS).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of computer equipment capacity/limitations, with ability to design, code, test, debug, and refine complex software solutions.
- Documentation: Ability to prepare both program-level and user-level documentation.
- Certification: Relevant certification from a nationally recognized technical authority.

- Ability to work independently while providing leadership and guidance to a technical team.
