Robert Half is looking for an experienced Attorney with expertise in commercial real estate transactions to join a growing real estate investment firm in Chicago, Illinois. This role focuses on managing complex acquisitions, dispositions, leasing agreements, and financing structures across a diverse portfolio. You will collaborate closely with multiple teams to ensure smooth deal execution while mitigating risks.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee nationwide commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, sales, leasing agreements, and financing projects.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review key legal documents such as purchase and sale agreements, loan contracts, leases, and joint venture documents.
  • Coordinate due diligence processes, including title and survey reviews, clearing exceptions, and ensuring timely closings.
  • Advise on capital market strategies by evaluating financing structures and negotiating debt agreements.
  • Provide expertise on leasing matters for retail, industrial, office, and ground leases while addressing tenant concerns and ensuring compliance with agreements.
  • Develop standardized templates and policies to streamline transactional processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with acquisitions, asset management, property management, and finance teams to identify risks and optimize transaction outcomes.
  • Stay informed about industry regulations and legal trends impacting commercial real estate transactions.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and maintain active licensure in at least one U.S. state.
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial real estate transactions within a law firm, private equity, or real estate investment environment.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of independently managing, negotiating, and closing acquisitions, dispositions, and financings.
  • Exhibit deep knowledge of title and survey reviews, due diligence processes, and complex closing logistics.
  • Showcase excellent negotiation and drafting skills with the ability to deliver practical solutions in high-pressure situations.
  • Bring familiarity with joint ventures, entity formation, or real estate fund structures as an added advantage.
  • Display strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple transactions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
