Position Summary
The Legislative Analyst will play a key role in the firm’s government affairs and policy strategy, working closely with the Chief Business Officer. This individual will monitor and analyze relevant legislative activity at the state and federal levels, coordinate with external lobbyists, and provide operational and strategic support to advance the firm's policy goals. The role will also involve organizing meetings and assisting with political fundraising efforts as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Track proposed legislation and policy changes that may impact the firm’s work, especially related to civil litigation, sexual abuse claims, and survivors' rights
- Conduct legislative and regulatory research, prepare summaries, and produce internal reports and briefings for the executive team
- Schedule and coordinate calls, meetings, and briefings with lobbyists, legislators, and other stakeholders
- Assist the Chief Business Officer in developing advocacy strategies and legislative priorities
- Support fundraising activities related to political or advocacy initiatives
- Monitor legislative calendars and maintain organized records of relevant bills, votes, and committee activity
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between legal, communications, and advocacy efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, or a related field
- 3–5+ years of relevant experience in a legislative, policy, or government affairs role
- Strong understanding of the legislative process at the state and/or federal level
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently
- Experience coordinating meetings with government officials or advocacy stakeholders
- Passion for social justice and the rights of survivors of sexual abuse
