Job Description
Job Summary:
We are looking for a dependable and hardworking forklift operator to join our team. The ideal candidate has forklift experience, is comfortable working outdoors. The Operator performs a variety of duties under the supervision of higher-level employees to support the maintenance and organization of the warehouse, inventory, and equipment. Responsibilities may include assisting with increased workloads, providing coverage for employee absences and vacations, and supplementing crews as needed to accommodate fluctuations in production demands or changing weather conditions. The duties and responsibilities of the Operator are focused on maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment while providing support to the crew and contributing to overall production goals.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Follows all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Safely operates forklifts and other handling equipment.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers, move pallet, products and materials throughout the yard safely.
- Inspects the forklift before each shift, cleans and lubricates.
- Maintains the working area free from debris and dirt and readies or puts away tools as assigned.
- Complete daily paperwork. Write legible bills of lading.
- Performs any unskilled job at the warehouse as assigned such as sweeping, pressure washing and painting.
- Adhere to Company policy by wearing mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (company provided).
- Reports any issues to supervisor or higher-level employee.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Operate a variety of forklifts and other handling equipment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
- Must maintain a good attitude.
- Able to nail with hammers & sledges.
- Able to operate hand & pneumatic tools.
Education and Experience:
- Previous yard experience preferred.
- Forklift experience 2 years with certification. We can assist with obtaining the forklift certification.
- Google Drive experience preferred.
- Specific warehouse/yard job training for this position is provided by Yard Supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing, bending and walking.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at times.
- Manual dexterity as needed to operate hand & pneumatic tools.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the warehouse.
