Job Description

Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Property Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a residential rental portfolio. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate tenant and owner accounting across the full property lifecycle and works closely with operations teams in a fast-paced environment.

This position is ideal for someone with property management accounting experience who enjoys transactional accounting, organization, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Handle tenant accounting across the full lifecycle, including move-ins, move-outs, security deposits, late fees, NSFs, and billbacks
  • Post rent payments, refunds, and maintenance chargebacks
  • Process accounts payable including HOA payments, maintenance invoices, eviction fees, and miscellaneous expenses
  • Perform monthly trust account bank reconciliations
  • Process owner transactions including contributions, distributions, and monthly statements
  • Support month-end close activities and financial statement review
  • Communicate regularly with operations teams to resolve accounting issues
  • Assist with new property onboarding, acquisitions, and special projects as needed

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of property management or real estate accounting experience
  • Experience with property management software such as AppFolio or Yardi preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high transaction volumes
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Comfortable working independently and in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook

Preferred Experience

  • Residential rental or property management environment
  • AppFolio, Yardi, Rent Manager, or Propertyware
  • Trust accounting or tenant/owner accounting

Pay Details: $28.00 to $31.25 per hour
