SoGro Brooklyn is part of The Hub, an exciting new hospitality space in the Brooklyn neighborhood. We share a courtyard with Alder&Oak, our full service sister restaurant, and Zorbas, a rooftop bar with incredible views.
This is the first Southern Grounds to feature a house-made cocktail program, and an extensive wine and Champagne list. Come be a part of our hospitality-obsessed, team! Prior bartending and/or wine service experience is a plus.
SoGro is rapidly expanding, and this role offers great potential for growth!
Duties:
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, wines, beers and cocktails with precision and hospitality!
- Handle prep tasks such as making cold brew, brewing teas and coffee, prepping cocktail batches and stocking items.
- Operate Toast POS efficiently while handling cash transactions.
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting guests warmly, taking orders accurately, and addressing inquiries promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including food handling stations and seating areas.
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure quick service without compromising quality.
- Follow all food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers.
- Prior barista experience or coffee industry knowledge is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Toast POS is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse guests.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fastpaced environment.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math, and accurate order processing.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk comfortably around the café, and lift moderate loads as needed.
- Experience in serving or food service roles within cafés or retail environments is advantageous.
