Job Summary
We are looking for a dependable, caring, and energetic Daycare Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with children, communicate well with families and coworkers, and provide a safe and positive classroom environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and active supervision of children at all times.
- Create and follow age-appropriate lesson plans and daily classroom activities.
- Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and educational development.
- Maintain required staff-to-child ratios and classroom group sizes.
- Follow the classroom schedule and complete activities on time.
- Assist children with meals, diapering, toileting, handwashing, and other daily routines.
- Use positive guidance and age-appropriate behavior-management techniques.
- Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and properly sanitized classroom.
- Complete attendance, meal counts, incident reports, daily reports, and other required documentation.
- Communicate professionally with parents, coworkers, and center leadership.
- Follow all Illinois DCFS licensing requirements and center policies.
- Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and professional-development activities.
- Report safety, health, behavior, or family concerns to the director immediately.
Qualifications
- Must meet the applicable Illinois DCFS qualifications for a daycare teacher.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be able to pass all required background checks.
- Must complete a physical, TB screening, and other required personnel-file documentation.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained within the required timeframe.
- Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center is preferred.
- Early childhood education coursework, CDA, or Illinois Gateways credentials are strongly preferred.
- Must be dependable, professional, patient, and able to work as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift and carry children, sit on the floor, bend, stand, and remain active throughout the shift.
