  • Salary: $87,817-$122,616 annually + Benefits


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Revenue Cycle to lead and optimize Patient Financial Services, Registration, Authorizations, Coding, Billing, Collections, and Patient Accounting. The Director will drive revenue cycle performance, improve reimbursement and financial controls, reduce revenue leakage, and lead cross-functional teams in a complex healthcare environment.


*This position is located in rural Alamosa, Colorado. Candidates must be willing to relocate to the San Luis Valley*


-> Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the organization’s revenue cycle operations.
  • Oversee Admissions, Registration, Patient Financial Services, Authorizations, Coding, Billing, Collections, Patient Accounting, and related revenue cycle functions.
  • Establish performance goals and operational strategies designed to improve revenue cycle effectiveness, cash flow, collections, and financial performance.
  • Monitor and report key revenue cycle performance indicators, including cash collections, days outstanding, accounts receivable, unbilled accounts, denials, and other financial metrics.
  • Analyze revenue cycle performance and identify opportunities for process improvement, increased efficiency, and improved reimbursement.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate controls and procedures for payments, posting, account adjustments, refunds, and bad debt write-offs.
  • Maintain effective relationships with third-party insurance carriers and facilitate resolution of reimbursement and payment issues that may affect cash flow or patient satisfaction.
  • Oversee revenue cycle-related financial analysis, reporting, and organizational metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable audit standards.
  • Oversee and approve Charge Master changes in accordance with established policies and approval protocols.
  • Develop tactical plans, departmental goals, and operating budgets that support the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Regularly evaluate progress toward revenue cycle and financial goals and implement corrective action when necessary.
  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and develop managers, supervisors, and assigned revenue cycle staff.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability to ensure effective staff performance and achievement of departmental objectives.
  • Lead meetings and communicate revenue cycle performance, challenges, opportunities, and recommendations to senior leadership in a clear and meaningful manner.
  • Collaborate with clinical, financial, administrative, and operational leaders to improve cross-departmental revenue cycle processes.
  • Serve as the primary revenue cycle contact for financial auditors and coordinate responses to audit requests.
  • Maintain competency through continuing education, professional development, and training as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


-> Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience, with substantial experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations.
  • At least 5 years of healthcare revenue cycle experience preferred.
  • 5–7 years of demonstrated management or supervisory experience.
  • Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or another related field preferred.
  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of combined relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hospital revenue cycle processes, including registration, authorizations, coding, billing, collections, accounts receivable, and patient accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare billing and revenue cycle software.
  • Experience with Meditech, Paragon, Relay Clearance, and/or Relay Assurance is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze revenue cycle data and use key performance indicators to drive operational improvements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and complex healthcare environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lead meetings, manage staff expectations, develop employees, and communicate effectively with executive leadership.
