About the Role
Our client, a leading nonprofit organization in the cellular therapy and transplant ecosystem, is seeking a Biorepository Technician to support critical operations within their Minneapolis-based biorepository. This team plays a key role in managing biological samples and collection kits used to advance life-saving research and donor programs.
As a Biorepository Technician, you will contribute directly to essential workflows that uphold sample integrity, support research initiatives, and ensure timely, accurate fulfillment of service requests. In this role, you will complete daily operational tasks across one or more functional areas within the biorepository. These may include activities related to donor registry kits, quality control samples, research samples, kit production, and online donor registration kits.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing daily workflow tasks within assigned biorepository units, such as registry processing, sample quality control, research sample handling, kit assembly, and related operational functions.
- Demonstrating unit-specific competencies, such as independently completing registry tasks, monitoring liquid nitrogen levels, pulling and preparing samples for shipment, processing donor/recipient paired samples, or completing routine documentation and core business kit builds.
- Using sound judgment to maintain the integrity, traceability, and utility of biological samples and collection kits, including associated lifecycle data.
- Meeting productivity and quality standards through accurate, timely work output.
- Following established safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and work instructions to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Evaluating incoming service orders, identifying potential issues, resolving challenges when possible, and escalating concerns when needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Experience working in a laboratory, biorepository, clinical, or regulated operations environment
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining sample and data integrity
- Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to independently evaluate and address operational issues
- Ability to meet productivity expectations while maintaining high-quality work standards
- Strong organizational skills and comfort working with structured workflows and documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience handling biological samples or working with sample storage systems (including liquid nitrogen environments)
- Familiarity with kit assembly, inventory management, or sample distribution processes
- Prior experience working within donor programs, research organizations, or clinical support services
- Proficiency using laboratory information systems or sample tracking databases
