Job Summary:
The Engineering Intern supports the development, testing, and validation of aftermarket automotive products by performing emissions data collection and analysis. This role will be operating the emissions dynamometer to conduct data analysis on our existing and latest products. Help create a positive culture of continuous improvement by learning, teaching, and applying lean principles, exhibiting honesty at all times, and respecting other people at all times.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
- Perform daily calibration and setup of the Mustang Dynamometer and 3DATX ParSyc gaseous/particulate modules to ensure measurement accuracy and repeatability.
- Execute standardized federal emissions drive cycles, ensuring the vehicle is properly secured and the dyno is operating correctly.
- Monitor live streams of data from measuring equipment identifying and troubleshooting any signal noise or sensor drift during the run.
- Perform comparative statistical analysis between baseline and modified configurations to quantify the delta in emissions output.
- Translate raw CSV/Log files into professional charts and data visualizations that clearly highlight compliance margins.
- Author test reports that include ambient conditions, vehicle metadata, test methodology, and final "Pass/Fail" recommendations based on emissions results.
- Shadow calibrators, designers, and engineers to get exposure to the whole performance product development process.
- Coordinate with the Calibration Team to accurately flash ECU/TCU tunes and software revisions using proprietary tools, ensuring strict version control for each test iteration.
- Collaborate with the auto shop to install and remove prototype or production parts on vehicles.
- Continually cross-train and learn from others in all department processes
- Actively participate in kaizen activities and other improvement events
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
- Currently pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field (Junior or Senior standing preferred)
- Basic understanding of engine cycles, air fuel ratios, and chemistry of emissions
- Proficiency in spreadsheet for processing large data sets
- Basic experience with automotive hand tools and an understanding of exhaust system architecture
- Fluent in verbal and written English
- Good attitude at all times

- Adaptable to frequent changes and able to handle high-pressure situations with key stakeholders.
