Overview
Krause Group is seeking a Data Analyst Intern to support our M&A function through data-driven analysis and insight generation.
This role offers a hands-on opportunity to work on active business priorities, including financial modeling, transaction support, and performance analytics. The intern will contribute to initiatives that inform investment decisions, evaluate growth opportunities, and enhance enterprise value across our portfolio.
The position is well-suited for someone with strong analytical capabilities and an interest in applying data to real-world financial and strategic decisions.
About the Opportunity
Our M&A team plays a critical role in shaping the organization’s growth strategy from evaluating potential acquisitions to optimizing performance across existing businesses.
In this role, you will work with financial, operational, and market data to support decision-making at both the business unit and enterprise level. You will gain exposure to how data is used to assess investments, guide capital allocation, and identify opportunities for long-term value creation.
This internship is designed to provide meaningful, project-based experience with direct application to current priorities.
Key Responsibilities

Collect, clean, and analyze financial and operational data across business units

Support financial modeling, valuation analysis, and scenario planning for potential investments or acquisitions

Assist in building and maintaining dashboards to track key financial and performance metrics (e.g., revenue, EBITDA, margins, growth trends)

Conduct market, industry, and competitive analysis to support M&A pipeline development

Support due diligence efforts by organizing, validating, and synthesizing data

Prepare data-driven insights and materials for internal stakeholders, including leadership and deal teams

Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to support strategic decision-making
Intern Project
The intern will own a structured project aligned to current Finance and M&A priorities. Example projects may include:

Building a financial performance dashboard across portfolio companies or business units

Developing a valuation model or benchmarking tool for acquisition targets

Analyzing historical deal data to identify trends and investment criteria

Creating a standardized data framework to support M&A due diligence

Executive-ready presentation summarizing analysis, insights, and recommendations

Supporting financial model, dashboard, or analytical tool

Qualifications
Education:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Accounting, or a related field
Experience & Skills:

Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail

Proficiency in Excel (required); experience with financial modeling strongly preferred

Exposure to data tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI, or Tableau is a plus

Interest in corporate finance, private equity, venture investing, or M&A

Strong communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights
Skills and Competencies

Understanding of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)

Familiarity with valuation methodologies (DCF, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions)
