Compensation:

$24 - $28 hourly

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide research and analysis of legal issues related to any of the assigned areas of law, including but not limited to estate planning, long-term care planning, real estate, and gas and oil rights.
  • Draft and proofread legal documents and forms for accuracy and consistency, including but not limited to deeds, leases, wills, powers of attorney, trusts, and asset lists.
  • Attend appointments with the attorneys and interact with clients and referral sources, serving as a witness and/or notary during signing appointments.
  • Prepare and proofread correspondence.
  • Perform general operational tasks, including but not limited to answering the phone and forwarding messages, copying, scanning, mailings and postage, assisting drop-in clients, filing paperwork, handling voice mail messages, etc., all according to Firm policies and procedures.
  • Assist with preparing files for new clients, including printing labels for folders.
  • Scan, print, copy, and save documents.
  • Work to make client satisfaction a top priority, finding quick resolution to client complaints and concerns.
  • Report any potential threats to the success of Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak to the Executive Director or Owner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and personnel information in accordance with Brumbaugh Law Firm's confidentiality policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Law clerk positions are designed for individuals who are pursuing or preparing for a career in law. Eligible candidates include pre‑law students, current law school students, and law school graduates who are awaiting the bar exam or the results of their bar exam.

Skill Set and Abilities:

Language Skills

  • Must have good communication skills and communicate clearly and effectively in both written and spoken English. Ability to effectively present information in various situations.

Computer Skills

  • Has advanced knowledge of computer operation, internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software; the use of Microsoft products is preferred. Has the ability to type and operate office equipment.

  • Uses the utmost discretion regarding sensitive company and personnel information. Must be able to coordinate resources and responsibilities, and be able to get along well with others. Must be able to develop a strong rapport with various personnel inside and outside the organization, earning trust and respect.
