Job DescriptionMachine Electronic Control Technician Salary: $72,000–$83,000 per year (based on experience)Location: Wayne NJWe are seeking an experienced Controls & Automation Engineer to support the development, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of packaging equipment and machine control systems. This role is responsible for PLC programming, vision systems, barcode scanners, HMI controls, electrical troubleshooting, equipment validation, and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with cGMP and FDA regulations.Key Responsibilities:
- Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs, HMI, servo, vision, and machine control systems.
- Support installation, startup, and integration of new packaging equipment and automation projects.
- Train operators, mechanics, engineering staff, and QA personnel on machine controls and electronic systems.
- Develop SOPs, maintenance procedures, validation documents, engineering studies, and change controls.
- Troubleshoot production equipment and provide technical support across all shifts, including occasional off-hours.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Packaging, Purchasing, Sales, and Operations to ensure successful project execution.
- Support investigations related to deviations, equipment issues, and customer complaints.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5–8 years of experience in a packaging or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMI, servo systems, vision inspection systems, barcode/data matrix scanners, and industrial automation.
- Experience working in FDA-regulated and cGMP manufacturing environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and technical software related to automation and controls.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to work around industrial machinery while wearing required PPE.
- Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods and work safely in a manufacturing environment.
This is an exempt, full-time engineering position ideal for a hands-on controls professional with experience in pharmaceutical or packaging automation who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and supporting production operations.
