POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced and creative Senior Manager, Wayfinding & Signage to lead the planning, design, and delivery of an integrated wayfinding and signage program for a world-class transportation and venue experience at a major international sporting event.
This role will ensure all client groups can navigate efficiently and confidently between transport hubs, last mile routes, and event venues. The successful candidate will combine design thinking, operational practicality, and stakeholder collaboration to deliver a consistent, branded, and accessible signage system across all assigned locations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategy & Planning
- Develop the Wayfinding & Signage Master Plan covering relevant transport locations, perimeters and last mile routes
- Manage the end-to-end scoping requirements and gap analysis, inputting all Mobility signage data (quantities, types, and content) into overlay drawings for coordination
- Oversee the dot planning for pedestrian and road-based wayfinding
- Lead coordination of a multi-vendor bus wrapping program potentially involving 200+ buses, working closely with depot and training teams to plan and schedule installations
- Align wayfinding with operational flows, crowd management strategies, and client group pathways
- Incorporate branding, accessibility standards, and multilingual needs into all designs in alignment with KC2026 regulations
2. Design & Production Management
- Oversee the creative design process for all wayfinding elements, ensuring consistency with the Tournaments branding and identity
- Specify signage types (permanent, temporary, static, digital), materials, sizes, and placement
- Compile and manage the full “kit of parts” in a structure database
- Manage production timelines, quality control, and contractor deliverables
3. Stakeholder Coordination
- Work with transport planners, last mile teams, venue managers, and accessibility specialists to confirm signage requirements
- Coordinate with branding, marketing, and sponsorship teams to ensure compliance with visual guidelines
- Liaise with local authorities for permits and approvals where required
4. Installation & Readiness
- Develop detailed installation plans, including sequencing, site access, and safety protocols
- Supervise installation crews, ensuring signage is positioned accurately and securely as per the determined plan
- Conduct pre-event readiness checks, ensuring visibility, legibility, and durability
5. Event-Time Operations
- Monitor signage effectiveness and respond to operational changes (e.g., re-routes, security adjustments) with updated or temporary signage
- Coordinate rapid deployment teams for incident response or directional changes
6. Decommissioning & Legacy
- Oversee the safe removal of temporary signage post-event
- Support the decommissioning of bus branding
- Assist with the financial and contractual close-out of all vendor-related agreements
- Produce a final report on signage effectiveness and lessons learned for future events
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Strong experience in wayfinding and signage programs, knowing the vital components that makes it successful – visually appealing, functional and accessible
- Key project management skills, managing complex programs from concept to delivery
- Understands the importance of stakeholder collaboration, building strong relationships across diverse teams
- Attention to detail, ensures accuracy and consistency across hundreds of assets
- Responds quickly and effectively to operational challenges
- Preferable background in the passenger transport industry in one or more of the following areas (Bus, Coach, Chauffeur, Taxi, Rail, Fleet, etc.)
- Ability to translate a large complex operational requirement into clear, actionable plans
- Lead and attend meetings always representing TMS with the highest standard. Ensure timely response to all communications and maintain all documentation in company files and folders and sharing key documentation as required
- Flexibility in working hours – no two days are the same. Be willing to work flexible and extended hours throughout the event period
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- University degree or equivalent professional experience
- Proficient in English (written and oral)
- Preferably 8-10 years of progressive responsibilities and work-related experience, and any combination of education and training, which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, combined with demonstrated professional growth and achievement
- Previous involvement in complex event operations, preferably at FIFA World Cup™ or Olympics scale or equivalent
- Experience of working in International and US major events, preferably within a transport, venue or logistics planning capacity
- Proven track record in delivering large-scale, multi-venue wayfinding programs
- Strong understanding of accessibility and universal design principles
- Experience managing design, production, and installation contractors
- Ability to work in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments
- Advanced skills in writing visual operational design plans, and post event environmental and legacy reporting
- Strong business acumen and transport language
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 software
- Familiarity with digital signage and real-time wayfinding technologies such as Adobe Illustrator and other graphic design software
