Location: Bessemer, AL Schedule: Monday–Friday | Full-Time Pay: Competitive hourly pay based on experience

We are hiring an experienced Fabricator / Welder for a growing structural steel fabrication operation in Bessemer. This is a hands-on shop position working with structural steel components and assemblies. The ideal candidate has strong MIG welding, fabrication, layout, and blueprint-reading experience and takes pride in producing accurate, quality work.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols
  • Lay out, measure, cut, and fit structural steel, including beams, HSS, channels, angles, and plate
  • Perform MIG welding using GMAW/FCAW processes
  • Set up and operate welding machines, saws, hand tools, grinders, torches, and fixtures
  • Assemble and square structures using proper joint preparation, fit-up, and weld sequencing
  • Safely move and position steel using overhead cranes and forklifts
  • Visually inspect welds and dimensions to ensure finished parts meet drawing tolerances
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA standards

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of structural steel fabrication and welding experience
  • Strong MIG welding skills with structural steel
  • Ability to read and work from structural drawings
  • Skilled in layout, measuring, fitting, and fabrication
  • Experience using squares, levels, torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools
  • Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred

  • AWS D1.1 or equivalent welding certification
  • Rigging experience with chains, slings, and spreader bars
  • Forklift certification

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM June & July: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM Full-time position

Work Environment

This position works in a structural steel fabrication shop with bridge and jib cranes, welding stations, and steel-handling equipment. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on their feet for extended periods.
