Job Summary:

The Bakery Clerk assists with the preparation, packaging, and display of fresh baked goods while providing friendly, helpful service to customers. This role helps maintain product quality, cleanliness, and the overall appearance of the bakery department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Package, label, and stock baked goods such as breads, rolls, donuts, cakes, and cookies.
  • Assist with basic baking and finishing tasks (e.g., icing, slicing, decorating, or baking off frozen products).
  • Set up and maintain attractive bakery displays and product signage.
  • Monitor product freshness, rotate stock, and remove outdated or damaged items.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary bakery cases, prep areas, and equipment.
  • Answer customer questions and assist with special orders or product recommendations.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Assist with unloading and stocking bakery deliveries.
  • Communicate with bakery team and manager about product needs or customer requests.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous bakery, food service, or grocery experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic math and reading skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in warm environments (near ovens or proofers).

Working Conditions:

  • Fast-paced retail environment with frequent exposure to flour, sugar, and other baking ingredients.
  • May involve early morning shifts and working around hot ovens and equipment.
