Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $125,000 – $150,000 annually, depending on experience, licensure, and qualifications

This salary range is provided in compliance with Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, North Dakota state guidelines, and the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians' employment standards. Final compensation will reflect experience, location, and credentials.
Position Summary
Chippewa Sustainable Solutions (CSS) is hiring a Technical Lead – Safety of Dams (SOD Program) to oversee engineering inspections, risk assessments, and dam safety planning in support of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA).
This role is essential to ensuring the structural safety and operational readiness of tribal dams and water infrastructure across Indian Country. It combines field leadership with advanced technical review and coordination with tribal and federal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hydrologic, hydraulic, and geotechnical risk evaluations
- Lead dam condition assessments and recommend risk-reduction strategies
- Supervise field inspections, site investigations, and early warning system (EWS) planning
- Coordinate with tribal governments, BIA engineers, and emergency management agencies
- Ensure deliverables comply with federal dam safety standards (FEMA, FERC, DOI)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Hydrology, or Physical Science
- 10–15 years of experience in dam safety, structural engineering, or water infrastructure
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required (any U.S. jurisdiction)
- Proficiency in dam safety modeling, risk-informed decision frameworks, and technical reporting
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, EWS design, and FEMA guidelines preferred
