Subject Matter Expert in: Introduction to Philosophy

Type of Contract: Professional Services

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking professionals with academic training and experience in the Introduction to Philosophy to develop high-quality online courses. The selected candidate will contribute their specialized knowledge to create rigorous, up-to-date learning experiences aligned with academic and institutional standards. The Subject Matter Expert (SME) will be responsible for creating course materials, identifying reliable learning resources, advising on assessment strategies, and collaborating closely with the instructional design team to ensure content aligns with learning objectives and incorporates principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The SME will also participate in follow-up meetings and training sessions related to virtual teaching and continuous improvement.


This is an opportunity to actively contribute to strengthening online education and developing innovative programs in key areas of contemporary psychology.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Design and develop online course content following quality standards (e.g., Quality Matters) and institutional guidelines, integrating principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  2. Provide specialized knowledge and reliable academic references in Biology.
  3. Create course materials (content, assessments, activities, and digital resources).
  4. Collaborate with an instructional designer to ensure alignment with learning outcomes.
  5. Participate in progress meetings and adhere to the established timeline.
  6. Deliver all content in an organized, editable digital format.
  7. Review and validate the accuracy, currency, and relevance of the designed content.
  8. Select complementary resources (videos, readings, activities) to enrich the student experience.
  9. Advice on learning assessment criteria and instruments.
  10. Participate in training sessions related to online course development.
  11. Ensure compliance with institutional standards and quality benchmarks.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in the discipline.
  • Professional or teaching experience in the field.
  • Prior experience in online course design is desirable.
  • Commitment to educational quality and innovation.
