Job Overview
We are hiring Project Manager 2 professionals to support critical construction and infrastructure projects at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This role will lead small to mid-sized construction projects within a highly regulated nuclear facility while supporting mission-critical national security operations.
The Project Manager will oversee project scope, schedule, cost performance, and team coordination while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DOE and laboratory requirements.

Position Details
- Pay: $60 – $70 per hour
- Duration: 1-year contract with potential extensions up to 5 years
- Schedule: 4x10 work schedule with anticipated overtime
- Location: TA-55 – Los Alamos National Laboratory (100% onsite)
- Openings: 10 positions available
- Start: ASAP
- Per diem: Available
Key Responsibilities
- Manage construction projects valued up to $500K and support larger program initiatives.
- Lead project teams and coordinate schedules, resources, and work activities.
- Monitor project scope, schedule, and budget performance.
- Serve as a Control Account Manager (CAM) responsible for project cost and schedule oversight.
- Perform schedule and cost variance analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Lead constructability reviews and support project planning activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and facility procedures including lock-out/tag-out practices.
- Review engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Provide project status updates and reports to senior leadership and federal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in construction, engineering, or nuclear facility projects.
- Active DOE Q Clearance (required at submission).
- Experience managing project scope, schedule, and budget performance.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Nuclear or DOE project experience required.
Work Environment
- Work will be performed onsite within a secure nuclear facility environment.
- Candidates must be comfortable working in active construction areas and supporting mission-critical operations.
