About Lockstep

Lockstep Technology Group is a leading IT solutions provider focused on digital transformation, cloud architectures, security & emerging solutions. Our mission is to empower Technology teams to be strategic enablers in their organizations. We eliminate the distractions and complexity of infrastructure, security, and access. We believe today’s technology leaders are co-creators of tomorrow’s strategies, in a world that requires technology to optimize outcomes while evolving in real-time through the adoption of new tools. Lockstep fosters innovation by also empowering employees in an environment where core values of honesty, commitment, trust, and respect create a high-performing, cohesive team.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Network Engineer who thrives in a hands-on, client-facing consulting environment. This isn’t a behind-the-scenes role—you’ll be onsite with K-12 clients after school hours, solving complex problems, installing equipment, and delivering top-tier service.

You’ll need solid technical skills in Cisco, Ruckus, and Palo Alto (among others), plus the ability to think critically about how different technologies can be applied in real-world scenarios. If you’re hungry to grow, take on leadership in the future, and make a real impact with schools across South Carolina, we want to meet you.

Why Lockstep?

  • Team-first culture: We back each other up, pitch in when it matters, and celebrate wins together
  • Growth-oriented: This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow into a future leadership role
  • Meaningful work: You’ll directly support the success of schools across the state

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Short-term/long-term disability and life insurance
  • Flexible PTO
  • 7 company-paid holidays, 1 floating holiday, and 5 personal days
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Requirements:What You'll Do

  • Work closely with Network Architects to design and implement functional, secure, and scalable networks
  • Install, configure, and support networking hardware onsite
  • Travel throughout Columbia, Lexington, Charleston, and Greenville, SC to support client sites
  • Participate in hands-on physical installations, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Build strong relationships with clients and help guide them toward the right solutions for their environment
  • Mentor junior engineers and help support their technical development
  • Anticipate network issues and propose proactive solutions
  • Respond to escalated support issues and resolve them with care and urgency
  • Help foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience (5–10 years in the field)
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certifications
  • Strong experience with Cisco, Ruckus, Meraki, and Palo Alto network solutions
  • Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting routing, switching, wireless, collaboration, and security systems
  • Deep understanding of networking concepts (OSI model, TCP/IP, routing protocols, etc.)
  • Familiarity with performance tuning, system monitoring, and network administration
  • Clear, confident communicator—both in person and in writing
  • Problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, high-trust environment
  • Comfortable with frequent travel (up to 70%)
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours for client installs when needed
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs and perform fieldwork
