We are looking for a photgrapher to lead a Digital Photography club after school for high school students!

The Y has been a trusted leader in youth development for generations. From first steps to first jobs, we create opportunities for young people to grow stronger, lead with confidence, and build a future full of possibility-through sports, tutoring, mentoring, and more. As a Specialty Instructor you'll provide innovative and exciting after school specialty clubs and sports programs for high school students to help them advance their skills, all while having fun.

In this role, you will partner with the YMCA after school program to provide after school specialty enrichment to high school students. We are looking for specialists in a variety of disciplines who have a strong background and experience in their particular fields of specialty. This is a seasonal position offered during the school year and on school days only.

What you'll do:

  • Provide high school students with after school specialty clubs in a specialized discipline. WE PROVIDE ALL THE SUPPLIES, MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED.
  • Deliver subject specific instruction and enrichment in a club-based after school model.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all participants
  • Support students in building confidence and mastering key concepts
  • Build strong relationships with students and promote academic motivation and the development of 21st century skills.
  • Track student progress and communicate updates, as needed.
  • Each Instructor is supported by a program assistant (YMCA staff team member).

What we're looking for:

  • Must be 21 years old or older.
  • Experience in digital photography, including samples of work. Professional photographer preferred.
  • Experience working with older youth (teens) in an after school or enrichment setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to create a welcoming and supportive enrichment environment.
  • Availability on school days; approximately up to 2-6 hours per week – max number of hours per week is 6. This is a part-time, seasonal position. This position is typically two (2) days per week, for two (2) hours per day with hours typically taking place after school between 3:00pm-5:30pm. This is a club-based model, and clubs are usually offered twice a week (M/W or T/Th) or three days a week (M/W/F).

Compensation

  • Level I Instructor: $25-$35/per hour for hours of instruction.
  • Level II Instructor: $35-$50/per hour for hours of instruction.
  • This position has a non-negotiable training wage of $17.87/per hour for mandatory work related training outside of instruction.

To ease the onboarding experience, hired candidates will be provided with access to complete a mandatory TB Test clearance, at no cost, prior to their first scheduled shift. The YMCA also provides all new employees with access to paid CPR/First Aid certification training, at no cost, to be completed within 60 days of hire.
