Great Hill Solutions is seeking a remote Data Engineer to support our Department of Defense client. The candidate will support the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAO) with data analytics, data integration and pipeline ingest, data management, and catalog and metadata management. The candidate will:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to support analytics and business intelligence based on the DSCA OLTP systems.
- Develop and optimize data models for both operational and analytical systems.
- Implement best practices for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and retrieval across environments.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver reliable solutions.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance through monitoring, testing, and validation frameworks.
- Write and maintain efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for data processing.
- Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources (databases, APIs, streaming platforms, third-party feeds).
- Optimize performance and scalability of large datasets using distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark,).
- Apply security, compliance, and privacy standards to data solutions.
- Ensure that Data is curated based on requirements and designed with reusability in mind.
- Normalize data elements across systems. Build data index, apply deduplication logic to align data, investigate data mismatches, identify data quality gaps, and reconcile metadata for a unified view of business data.
- Troubleshoot data-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and reliable delivery of data products.
- Provide Data Quality (DQ) measures and improvements in accordance with defined criteria for silver and gold data zones.
- Ensure data is easily discoverable, well-managed, and integrated with metadata and business rules using tools like Collibra.
- Coordinate work across various Advana lines of businesses (Acquisition, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Finance) to continually improve the ability to link mission critical data with other domain data.
- Data sources are to be auto cataloged and integrated with data dictionaries metadata that provide understanding through exposure of data descriptions and business rules that facilitate data integration.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have an active SECRET clearance.
- Bachelor of Science or Arts from an accredited university or college, scientific or technical discipline preferred.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience supporting Federal clients with implementing data management practices.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience with Python programming language.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience with enterprise data tools like Databricks, Databricks SQL Editor, Erwin data modeler, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to develop collaborative, cooperative and constructive working relationships, resolve conflicts and negotiate with others, with strong cultural awareness.
- Strong organizational skills, results oriented, willingness to prioritize workload and drive operations to completion.
- Must have competent writing skills, and the ability to work independently in Microsoft 365.
- Up to date knowledge of Collibra Data Governance Center functionalities.
- Understanding of Procurement Lifecycle (e.g., DoD's Procure to Pay end-to-end process) will be beneficial.
