This Power Conversion Commissioning Engineer role is your opportunity to join a globally recognized manufacturer specialized in DC switchgear, power conversion systems, and traction power solutions for the rail industry.
This dynamic role contains field service activities such as preventive & corrective maintenance, retrofits and commissioning activities, making it ideal for those with hands-on attitude, and a clear customer focus.
We’re looking for an all-rounder who can support our service organization in Washington DC. This will require you to collaborate with internal teams and our customers. If you’re technically solid, like to travel and have a clear customer focus, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision of installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance of converters (thyristor + IGBT) with power ranging from 0.5MW to 10MW, and other electro-mechanical switchgear testing, commissioning, repair, troubleshooting, and site survey tasks as needed, according to international standards, at customers’ sites (could be worldwide).
- Participating in the development of power converters by giving site feedback and close communication with development team in Geneva (CH) and Madrid (Spain).
- Providing training to our customers in field of power converters in substations.
- Ensuring complete functionality of the HW/SW converter room.
- Uploading and debugging of software, firm wares or minor adjustments in software.
- Administrative activities related to testing and commissioning of power converters (reporting, edition of test and SAT reports).
- Providing overall support during the handover of the power converter to the customer.
- Close cooperation with the company headquarters in Geneva and development team in Madrid
Requirements
- Technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or Industrial Engineering
- Electrical hazards and safety training; Maintenance; Protections and control of electrical equipment
- Experience on installation, testing and commissioning, and maintenance of electrical equipment. Ideally with experience on maintenance and experience on DC traction substations.
- Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in additional languages is considered a plus.
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team. Self-motivated.

- Willing to travel up to 80%
