The Utility Packer works on a high-volume packaging line handling frozen vegetables. You will sort, bag, box, and package products while maintaining strict quality, safety, and sanitation standards in a cold, wet production environment. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with an initial three-month duration, offering the chance to grow into a long-term role based on performance, attendance, and production results.
Responsibilities
- Work on a packaging line to sort, bag, box, and package frozen vegetables according to production requirements.
- Dump, pack, and stack frozen products efficiently to keep up with a fast-paced production environment.
- Pack products into specific labeled cases and various packaging receptacles, ensuring correct labeling and packaging configuration.
- Inspect products continuously to remove blemished items and any foreign material, maintaining high quality standards.
- Perform quality checks on each item or batch as needed, recognizing that quality assurance is a shared responsibility.
- Sanitize all packing lines and follow all sanitation programs to maintain a clean and safe production area.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety procedures, operational guidelines, and sanitation programs at all times.
- Maintain general housekeeping standards by keeping work areas clean, organized, and free of debris, regardless of role or status.
- Stack finished product onto specific pallet types in an orderly and stable manner for storage or shipment.
- Operate the facility dump station when required, following safety and operational procedures.
- Lift and move products, boxes, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed during the shift.
- Adapt to working in a cold and wet environment while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and maintain workflow on the line.
Essential Skills
- At least 2–3 months of experience in packing, production, or general labor within a manufacturing, warehouse, or similar environment.
- Experience with packaging and production work, including working on a fast-paced production or conveyor line.
- Ability to perform packing tasks so products can be correctly weighed, sealed, and prepared for shipment.
- Comfort working in a cold and wet production environment with temperatures around 35–40°ree;F in the production area.
- Ability to occasionally be in freezer conditions around 0°ree;F when required.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly during a shift.
- Attention to detail for sorting and inspecting products, identifying blemishes and foreign materials.
- Understanding of or willingness to follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety rules, and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to maintain quality standards and perform basic quality checks as part of daily duties.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and safety.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in warehouse packing, production, or general labor roles.
- Familiarity with working on conveyor-based production lines.
- Experience in food production or packaging environments.
- Willingness to operate a facility dump station with appropriate training.
- Strong reliability and consistent attendance to support production schedules.
- Ability to work different shifts, including potential Saturday work depending on schedule.

Work Environment
The role is based in a wet and cold production facility handling frozen vegetables. Typical temperatures range from approximately 35–40°ree;F in the production area, with freezer areas around 0°ree;F that production workers only rarely need to enter. The work involves standing for long periods on or near conveyor lines, handling products and packaging materials, and working around industrial equipment. The environment is fast paced and production-driven, requiring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, safety rules, and strict sanitation standards. General housekeeping is expected from all employees to keep the facility clean and organized. Shift options include multiple schedules: a first shift running during daytime hours Monday through Friday with potential work on Saturdays; a second shift running from mid-afternoon to late evening Monday through Friday with potential Saturday work; and a third shift running overnight from Sunday through Thursday with possible additional hours as needed. Appropriate attire for a cold, wet production setting is required, including any protective or safety gear provided in accordance with facility guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lebanon, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
