Responsibilities:
- Analyse raw card transaction data to identify distinct patterns, common noise, and merchant-specific identifiers for a rotating set of eligible merchants
- Develop and implement complex Regex patterns and logic within internal platforms to accurately map unstructured transaction strings to specific merchant entities
- Leverage SQL to monitor transaction volumes and performance metrics, identifying anomalies or significant drops that suggest a shift in merchant naming conventions or logic failure
- Perform false-positive impact analysis to ensure high precision in mapping logic, preventing incorrect mapping while maintaining high coverage for eligible transactions
- Document authoritative mapping logic and pattern definitions to ensure the "why" behind each rule is transparent and maintainable by the broader team
- Manage the quarterly update lifecycle by proactively evaluating the impact of merchant list changes on existing rule sets and infrastructure
- Establish repeatable QA patterns for validating new rules against historical data sets before they are implemented in the production environment
- Identify and escalate data integrity gaps or inconsistencies in raw transaction feeds that could lead to downstream errors
- Conduct root-cause analysis on missing or "dropped" transactions by querying raw data to refine and adjust existing rules in response to evolving merchant telemetry
- Required Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in data analysis, data engineering, or a related field – not including any internships
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL and Regex
- Tools: Proficiency in Google Workspace (advanced Sheets, Drive, Docs)
- Ownership: Demonstrated ability to take independent initiative and drive tasks to completion with minimal supervision
- Communication: Proven ability to establish and maintain clear communication channels with diverse stakeholders
- Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to build relationships to effectively validate metrics and manage ongoing data needs
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to bridge data findings with program strategy to drive desired outcomes
