Network Storage Engineer (IPv6 Support)
Location: Washington, DC (On-Site, 5 Days a Week)
Clearance Required: Public Trust
Duration: 6-month contract, Potential for Extension or Conversion
Position Overview
We are seeking a Storage Engineer (IPv6 Support) to join a federal IT program in Washington, DC. This role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of storage systems within an IPv6-enabled network environment. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal performance, security, and availability of storage resources while managing IPv6 configurations and addressing issues related to both storage systems and IPv6 networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and manage storage systems, including SAN, NAS, and Direct Attached Storage.
- Implement and manage backup solutions to ensure regular data backups and disaster recovery readiness.
- Monitor storage capacity, health, and performance metrics to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
- Configure storage technologies to communicate over IPv6 in addition to IPv4.
- Troubleshoot and resolve storage-related issues in a secure and timely manner.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience providing storage solutions engineering support, including storage management, administration, and maintenance of storage systems (e.g., SAN, NAS) ensuring high availability and performance.
- Strong ability to monitor storage capacity, health, and performance metrics.
- Experience performing regular backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Familiarity with IPv6 configuration and integration within storage environments.
•Preferred Skills
- Strong knowledge of IPv6 networking, including addressing, routing, subnetting, network design, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in federal IT environments or similar secure settings.
