Small downtown Ft. Worth law firm seeks a onsite legal assistant to join our team. We practice in many areas of civil law, including business and corporate law, oil, gas and mineral law, water law, banking and creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, real property, eminent domain, zoning and land use, real estate, estate planning and probate, civil litigation and governmental law.
Responsibilities:
- Support attorneys through various stages of case management
- File/e-file documents with courts and/or agencies
- Opening/closing files, consistent with firm practice
- Maintain files as needed
- Assist with time entry
- Make document corrections per attorney instructions
- Provide general administrative support
- Backup to reception desk and other assistants
Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience as a legal assistant – preferably experience with real estate transactions, foreclosure and bankruptcy.
- Familiarity with legal procedures, terminology and the court system
- General knowledge of pleadings and proper form for drafting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office – advanced Word and Adobe skills
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and problem solve
