Senior Backend Developer (we work with Pyramid + FastAPI but experience with Flask and/or Django will work)
Pay: $160k-$200k base + Stock options
We are Located: New York, NY (near Wall Street, a block from the river)
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Senior Backend Developer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems and services that power our applications. This role requires a deep understanding of backend technologies, cloud infrastructure, and microservices architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend systems using Python and Java (bonus).
- Develop and maintain microservices using frameworks such as FastAPI.
- Utilize AWS services including Lambda, ECS, and EC2 for cloud-based solutions.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Ensure the security, performance, and reliability of applications through rigorous testing and monitoring.
- Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our backend architecture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in backend development with a strong focus on Python.
- Experience with cloud services, particularly AWS.
- Proficient in developing and deploying microservices architectures.
- Strong knowledge of Docker and container orchestration technologies.
- Familiarity with web frameworks such as FastAPI, Pyramid, and/or Django, Flask.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
