As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a key role in implant and instrument design, lead small projects, and collaborate with multi-functional teams to ensure successful project development and implementation. Candidates should ideally be located in Allendale, NJ (preferred), or Leesburg, VA.


What You’ll Do:

  • Interface with surgeons to gather input for design and evaluation of new products.
  • Utilize knowledge of surgical procedures to develop innovative solutions that satisfy customer needs.
  • Under minimal supervision, works with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success.
  • Under minimal supervision designs, develops, modifies, evaluates and verifies mechanical components for medical devices.
  • Quickly process and assimilate procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology required.
  • Participate in and lead, as applicable, design reviews.
  • Works on complex problems, applying advancing experience and learnings.
  • Demonstrates ownership and prioritizes work with minimal supervision.
  • Works as key member of the team, collaborating with others and solidifying relationships.
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of customer needs and design inputs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with product’s intended use and clinical procedures.
  • Learn how the financial models are constructed.
  • Follow fundamental industry standards, design requirements and test strategies which apply to regulatory requirements.
  • Independently create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file.
  • Follow R&D procedure like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.
  • Under minimal supervision, research, design, develop, modify, and verify components/modules for medical devices.
  • Translate design inputs to engineering specifications and produce sub-system level designs.
  • Develop and analyze solutions, prototyping one or more options to provide proof of concept.
  • Apply fundamental and some advanced concepts, practices and procedures for problem solving.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to lift to 30 pounds. The vision requirements include: close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. are and review information for invention disclosures and patent applications.


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical or Masters in related discipline
  • 2+ years of work experience.
  • Provides medium-sized engineering skills.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering practices and design principles.
  • Moderate technical ability to create engineering drawings and models, applying GD&T and CAE tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to product design.
  • Good technical communication skills to communicate basic plans and technical information to team members.
  • Moderate experience with a parametric CAD package, (ProE, Creo or SolidWorks preferred).
  • Receives a medium level of supervision.
  • Provides basic strategic and moderate tactical input.
  • Responsible for small projects.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Familiarity with design controls within a regulated industry.

Compensation:

Pay for this role is competitive and based on experience, with additional factors like territory requirements, qualifications, and performance considered. The typical pay range for this position is $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 annually, with potential for bonuses and incentives plus benefits. Final compensation is determined on a case-by-case basis and considers a variety of factors including experience level, skillset, and market conditions.
