Job Description
The Test Technician performs functional and electrical testing on Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units, chargers, and inverter modules to ensure they meet all specified requirements and industry standards. This role supports critical power infrastructure used in data centers, communication networks, and industrial facilities, and offers a clear growth path into a Test Engineering position while working with advanced power electronics and high-tech equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform functional testing of UPS, charger, and inverter modules to verify conformance with specified requirements.
- Conduct electrical tests and systems testing on UPS units using appropriate test equipment and procedures.
- Support and conduct witness tests, and assist Test Engineers during customer or agency witness testing activities.
- Design and develop instrumentation systems that incorporate uncertainty analysis to achieve highly accurate testing systems.
- Collect and record test data using electronic equipment, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
- Perform physical inspection and functional inspection of electrical components to identify defects or nonconformities.
- Operate test bays, test stations, and associated equipment safely and efficiently during test operations.
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty electrical components and systems identified during testing.
- Assess product performance and evaluation against engineered standards, including UL, CSA, and IEEE standards, as applicable.
- Review order write-ups and product specifications to understand testing requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Operate electrical components and systems under test to verify functionality and ensure overall product quality.
- Collaborate with other teams and departments to address quality issues and ensure units meet required approvals and standards.
- Configure and connect system equipment such as switchgear, SCCT cabinets, and power ties for testing.
- Perform preliminary inspections and tests on configured systems to confirm proper setup and operation.
- Ensure all testing activities comply with safety procedures, test protocols, and documentation requirements.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in Electronics.
- At least 6 months of electronics experience in a relevant environment.
- Hands-on electronic testing experience using standard electronic test equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical circuitry, including analog and digital circuitry.
- Ability to perform electrical testing on AC and DC power systems.
- Experience with electronic testing of printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Familiarity with electrical instruments and test equipment used for voltage, power, and circuit measurements.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues and repair faulty components and systems.
- Understanding of power electronics, including transformers, switchgear, and UPS systems.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as UL, CSA, and IEEE as they relate to product evaluation.
- Ability to configure and connect system equipment including switchgear and related cabinets.
- Strong attention to detail when performing inspections, tests, and data collection.
- Ability to work with test engineers and follow detailed test procedures and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and power electronics.
- Exposure to both AC power and DC power systems in a testing or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with medium-power or high-power electronic systems.
- Familiarity with electronic testing tools and methodologies in a manufacturing or lab setting.
- Interest in growing into a Test Engineering role after gaining experience as a Test Technician.
- Comfort working with high-tech equipment that supports data center and critical infrastructure applications.
- Ability to collaborate with a team of engineers and technicians and communicate test findings clearly.
- Motivation to learn advanced troubleshooting techniques and instrumentation system design.
- Willingness to work overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed to support production and testing demands.
Work Environment
This role is based in a clean manufacturing environment where you work alongside approximately 12 other engineers and technicians. The position supports multiple shifts, including a third shift (10:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m., Monday–Friday), a second shift (2:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m., with required overtime and some Saturdays), and a first shift (6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., with required overtime and potential Saturday work). You will work with advanced test equipment, electronic instruments, switchgear, SCCT cabinets, power ties, and UPS systems in a structured test bay or test station setting. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and hands-on technical work, offering extensive on-the-job training and exposure to high-tech power electronics that support the growing data center industry.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DELAWARE, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $31.00/hr.
