Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY: Under direction, plans, coordinates with outside entities, maintains department maps, coordinates projects, and performs a variety of other duties to support the daily operations of the Miami County Sanitary Engineering Department.

QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s Degree, or equivalent, in Engineering (Civil, Construction, Sanitary, Environmental, or other related discipline), supplemented by two (2) to four (4) years of practical experience in a related field of work, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license. Experience with use of CAD system is preferred.

DUTIES: Develops, expands, and maintains GIS database and related-systems for water and sewer department, performs data and map request operations, serves as department liaison for GIS related matters with outside organizations, analyzes GIS software and hardware needs of the department, works together with GIS/Engineering consultant to develop plan of implementation for water and sewer GIS system, develops, updates, and maintains department maps and construction drawings and drafts, uses CAD system, coordinates information with the Planning Department and County Engineer's office to exchange data, provides system data to customers, engineers, and staff, prepares construction drawings for small projects, makes prints, and copies, maintains department records.

Manages, inspects, and coordinates construction projects, prepares plans and bid specifications for projects, reviews quantities and pay estimates, checks grades, compaction, etc., coordinates projects with other government agencies, design engineers, and sub-consultants.

Implements department policies and procedures, writes reports, calculates fees and schedules taps, writes standards and specifications for construction of department facilities, answers calls from customers and engineers regarding the location of facilities.

Provides technical support for department operations, location work, field layout, and measuring, assists water and sewer field crew in developing Operations and Maintenance projects and locating problems in the system, manages various projects, provides technical support for the office.

May require the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.

Must maintain all required licensures and certifications.

Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

Demonstrates regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
