SAOC Cybersecurity Test Engineer
LOCATION: Hanscom AFB, MA
JOB STATUS: Full-time
CLEARANCE: Secret
TRAVEL: 20%
Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a SME Test Engineer for the 96th Cyber Test Group task order, supporting the Detachment 1 at Hanscom AFB, MA. As a member of an integrated product team, the individual would develop and test advanced concepts that span next generation or new network capabilities for the US Air Force. This position requires motivation and initiative to support developmental testing in a dynamic high tempo environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- While there are no specific education and experience requirements for a SME position, we typically look for a relevant technical Master's Degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience. SMEs are considered industuty leaders in their communicaty of practice.
- Possess an active US Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
- Significant understanding of Cybersecurity Test and Evaluation guidelines and practices at the DOD or Service level.
- Significant understanding of DOD acquisition and test and evaluation methodologies, processes, and activities
- Experience developing and reviewing Test and Evaluation Master Plans, Test and Evaluation Strategies, Test Plans, and Test Procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Knowledge in DoD and AF T&E Instructions, Policies, and Manuals, including DOD 5000.89 and DAFI 99-103.
- Experience with commercial cloud-based infrastructures, platforms, and services is desirable.
- Experience with modern cybersecurity approaches for multi-level security, zero-trust, and data encryption is desirable.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic test support and guidance to the integrated product teams
- Participate in test planning, test execution, data collection, data analysis, assessing systems effectiveness, and test reporting
- Provide guidance and support the development of test-related documentation (i.e. test plans, test procedures, Test and Evaluation Master Plans, Test Strategies, etc.) for technical rigor
- Perform research on current cyber threats, assess systems vulnerabilities, and identify risk areas to support cybersecurity test planning.
- Participate in product development demonstrations executed by the development contractor and government organization throughout the acquisition lifecycle
- Support the development and coordination of cybersecurity documentation to include system requirements, cybersecurity strategy, statement of work, Clinger-Cohen certification, and system authorization.
- Review system performance requirements for testability and measurability, develop test objectives, develop test methods and detailed test procedures, develop specification data requirements, identify instrumentation and test support equipment requirements, coordinate with test support agencies and ranges, and other DT&E tasks.
- Facilitate Mission Based Cyber Risk Assessments (MBCRAs) including Cyber Table Tops (CTTs) and Mission-based Risk Assessment Process for Cyber (MRAP-Cs).
- Create cybersecurity test strategies, identify test resources, and track risk factors to facilitate program acquisition strategies.
- Support the development of overarching program test plans and roadmaps, to include the identification of risks (both technical and schedule), test resources, and schedules.
- Support the implementation and execution of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes to include system categorization, security control selection, Cybersecurity testing, risk assessment and system authorization.
- Review technical specifications and system design documents
- Facilitate test planning meetings, technical interchange meetings, and system design reviews
- Review and comment on programmatic documents to include test and evaluation master plans and qualification test procedures for systems under test
- Coordinate with system program offices to define test methods and objectives, and develop test plans and procedures for newly developed or modified C4ISR systems
- Coordinate with internal and external test communities and support activities to schedule test resources, ranges, facilities etc.
- Define data requirements and coordinate with instrumentation and data personnel to ensure required data is collected
- Brief test members and support personnel on mission objectives, duties, and responsibilities to execute integration lab and other test events
- Conduct and direct systems test events to accomplish planned test objectives
