Role Description This temporary, on-site role for a Registered Respiratory Therapist is based in Prosser, WA. The therapist will provide direct respiratory care, including administering oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and other ordered treatments, while monitoring patient responses and adjusting care under clinical guidance. Daily responsibilities include performing and interpreting respiratory assessments, managing ventilators and other respiratory equipment, and documenting all care in accordance with regulatory and hospital policies. The role involves collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, educating patients and families on respiratory conditions and equipment use, and participating in emergency responses such as rapid response and code situations. The therapist will also help maintain equipment safety, follow infection prevention protocols, and support quality improvement efforts within the respiratory care department.

Qualifications

- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and active state licensure (or eligibility) for Washington.
- Proficiency in delivering respiratory therapies, performing patient assessments, and managing ventilators and related respiratory equipment in an acute or subacute care setting.
- Strong clinical judgment, ability to follow evidence-based protocols, and commitment to accurate, timely documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and provide clear education to patients and families.
- Ability to work on-site, adapt to changing patient acuity, prioritize tasks in a busy clinical environment, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications preferred, depending on patient population.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care or related field from an accredited program; prior hospital or clinical experience preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, infection control, cultural sensitivity, and continuous professional development.
