Verus Mortgage Capital is seeking a Lock Desk Associate II to join its growing team in an exciting and evolving market segment. This role offers a fast-paced, collaborative environment where initiative, expertise, and attention to detail are highly valued. The Lock Desk Associate II will play a key role in ensuring accurate loan pricing prior to purchase, supporting internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to the efficiency and integrity of lock desk operations.

Hybrid 2-3 days per week for local candidates to the Greater Minneapolis & St Paul area.
Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Monitor the Lock Desk inbox and phone lines, providing professional, accurate, and timely responses to seller inquiries and pricing questions
  • Serve as an internal and external resource for pricing issues, exceptions, and escalations
  • Ensure pricing adjustments from Capital Markets are properly applied both systemically and manually, when required
  • Validate and resolve pricing discrepancies identified at settlement
  • Assist with testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of system pricing and eligibility requirements
  • Support the documentation, review, and ongoing maintenance of the Lock Desk user manual and departmental procedures
  • Process funding adjustments
  • Register bulk trades, load bulk data updates, and validate final bulk pricing
  • Assist in training new Lock Desk Associates
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support lock desk initiatives


Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the secondary mortgage market with hands-on loan pricing experience
  • Strong understanding of mortgage origination, secondary market practices, securitization, and servicing
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflicts and discrepancies effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks independently with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a dynamic organization
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. PST

  • Loan Pricing Expertise: Demonstrates strong hands-on knowledge of secondary market pricing, adjustments, exceptions, and settlement reconciliation.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in pricing application, bulk data loads, funding adjustments, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Time & Priority Management: Effectively manages multiple time-sensitive requests, inbox workflows, and escalations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem Solving & Judgment: Identifies pricing discrepancies, evaluates exceptions, and resolves issues independently while knowing when to escalate.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Serves as a reliable resource for sellers and internal teams, communicating clearly and professionally on complex pricing matters.
