We’re seeking a highly motivated Field Service Engineer to support customers in the Austin area with installation, maintenance, and optimization of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) automation equipment. This role combines hands-on technical work with remote customer support and offers a dynamic mix of field service and home-based troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and start up SMT automation systems
  • Perform retrofits, upgrades, and custom modifications
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, software, and process issues
  • Provide remote and on-site support to minimize customer downtime
  • Conduct operator and maintenance training
  • Advise on preventive maintenance and process optimization
  • Prepare detailed service reports and technical documentation
  • Track reliability and contribute to process improvements
  • Act as a liaison between customers and engineering teams
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders


Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field preferred
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience with SMT automation equipment (preferred)
    • Strong diagnostic and repair skills in mechanical and electrical systems
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
    • Familiarity with mechatronic systems and Windows-based environments
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
    • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and travel extensively
