South Florida Autism Charter School is hiring Counselors for their After School Care Program:

Contract dates are August 12, 2026, through May 26, 2027

Schedule is 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Instructional Days only)

$16 per hour starting salary (does not include Benefits and Paid Time Off)

Students are in grades K-12, up to age 22
Compensation:
$16 per hour
Responsibilities:

Supervise and ensure the safety, well-being, and positive behavior of students with autism during the after-school program.

Implement structured recreational, educational, and social activities that promote communication, independence, and skill development.

Assist students with daily living skills, including toileting, feeding, transitions, and personal care, as needed.

Utilize positive behavior support strategies and follow individualized behavior intervention plans to encourage appropriate student behavior.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment while preparing materials and activities for daily programming.

Communicate effectively with supervisors, teachers, therapists, and parents regarding student progress, concerns, and significant incidents.

Follow all SFACS policies and procedures, including health and safety protocols, mandatory reporting requirements, confidentiality standards, and emergency procedures.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required.

Previous experience working with children with autism or other special needs is preferred.

Ability to implement positive behavior support strategies and maintain a safe, structured environment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Ability to remain patient, dependable, and flexible while working with students with diverse needs and abilities.

Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, lifting, assisting with student mobility, and participating in recreational activities.

Must successfully pass a Level 2 background screening and meet all state and school employment requirements.
