Use Reddit To Develop New Skills

Talent is funny thing, often difficult to define. Either you have it or you don’t. Over on the subreddit /r/photoshopbattles there are some amazing designers with lots of creativity and maybe too much free time on their hands. Regardless, this subreddit is a great example of how someone can get more experience developing professional skills in a fun way.

Here is how it works:

1 person posts a photo in the subreddit and then anyone has free reign to photoshop the photo however they like. The results often produce hilarious results.

Here is a recent one:

Just a tiger standing next to his keeper

The Original Photo

Then, one crafty individual edits the photo, suggesting something else…

They’re grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat

And so it begins…

Of course, Calvin needs to get in the mix…

So then the inevitable happens…

Hobbes

Bet you saw this coming…

And guess what comes next…

Calvin and hobbes

Full blown photoshop insanity

Cue creative chaos ensuring:

hobbes ate

I wonder if he was grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat

Now watch what some crafty person did…

kid eaten at local zoo

Next level creativity

Here we go…

Well there is plenty more on this subreddit, but the point here is that you can always be developing professional skills, especially if you are thinking about what you need to have in your toolset for your next job.

There all kinds of other subreddits where people can develop professional skills, such as writing prompts, HTML, and just about everything else you can think of.
