Job Description The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Principal Network Engineer. This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Director of Infrastructure Services. The position may be located in Reno, Nevada. The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions: two universities, a state college, four community colleges and a research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant challenges and opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees. The Principal Network Engineer is responsible for the architecture, ongoing development, troubleshooting, and maintenance of SCS's highly available and secure state-wide network, known as NevadaNet. This network supports academic research at Nevada's leading research universities as well as statewide connectivity for community anchors and other state or public institutions. Incumbents perform a wide range of work at the highest level of complexity utilizing sophisticated economic and technical analysis, design, installation, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting connectivity hardware and software associated with the SCS NevadaNet network, including routers, switches, fiber optic long haul transport and distribution equipment, firewalls, servers, racks, cabling and power. The incumbent also provides the highest-level data and video network engineering, operations and security support services to NevadaNet constituents as required. The primary responsibilities of this role are to analyze and resolve client-facing production issues. Additionally, this role can be a full-stack software developer playing a pivotal role in the fixing of simple to complex bugs of the system. As a core member of this team, you work closely with functional counterparts across the organization to resolve client’s issues, understand complex business requirements, and build cutting-edge solutions following the robust development process. Or this role can be a highly skilled person understanding Banking and how the Baker Hill solutions solve the client’s needs. Ideally, the role will have strong technical skills working with the technology stack that Baker Hill solutions utilize.Overall, an ideal candidate will thrive using their technical and problem-solving skills to work efficiently, accurately, and courteously with team members and clients to offer the best possible solutions in a timely manner.
Essential Functions/Job Duties:

<li>Provide answers and resolves problems for clients via phone, email, or online for Baker Hill software products; including testing, troubleshooting, and implementing necessary configuration changes and updates.</li>
<li>Partners with clients to provide insight, analysis, and solutions to business problems.</li>
<li>Actively collaborate with other team members and develops strong working relationships with clients, service/sales team, and other key stakeholders.</li>
<li>Manage multiple priorities daily from both external and internal clients in a professional and timely manner. Monitor accuracy and completeness of all assigned tasks.</li>
<li>Facilitate the transfer of technical information to potentially non-technical clients.</li>
<li>Design and develop high-performance and impactful software to solve complex business problems.</li>
<li>Deliver highly functional systems and tools to support our financial SaaS platforms.</li>
<li>Identify and improve the efficiency, scalability, operability, and security of systems. Participate in design and code reviews.</li>
<li>Communicate complex technical concepts concisely to non-technical counterparts.</li>
<li>Adopt, embrace, and promote agile, waterfall, and test-driven software development practices.</li>
<li>Reviews project proposals, evaluates alternatives, provides estimates and makes recommendations.</li>
<li>Analyzes program performance during execution while using various programming languages and techniques.</li>
<li>Identify potential process improvement areas and suggest options and recommends approaches.</li>

Skills/Qualifications:
<ul>
<li> 2-3 Software development, specifically web applications</li>
<li>Strong C#, .NET, AZURE, SQL, RDMS, ETL, SSIS, MVC, OO Principles, HTML, CSS, and JQuery </li>
<li>Strong knowledge of sound development practices - ability to communicate these to non-technical audience </li>
<li>Excellent problem solving, analytical skills, and debugging skills </li>
<li>Strong time management skills – ability to work on multiple projects in same time frame. </li>
<li>Strong willingness to collaborate and work with a team </li>
<li>Strong knowledge of Waterfall and Agile Methodologies </li>
<li>Demonstrate proficiency with AI tools such as Co-Pilot and/or ChatGPT, leveraging them proactively to streamline workflows and enhance task efficiency</li>
<li>Willingness to mentor/train less experienced associates</li>
<li>Knowledge of SCM systems and best practices</li>
<li>Knowledge of Continues Integration Platform </li>
<li>Experience with Business Objects is a plus </li>
<li>Experience with HIPA or PCI Security Practices is a plus </li>
<li>Strong CS fundamentals, including proficiency in algorithms, data structures, and OOP </li>
<li>Solid understanding of RDBMS technologies and SQL </li>
<li>Experience with REST based APIs design (XML, JSON, etc.) </li>
<li>Ability to work independently as well as in teams, in a fast-paced environment</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of multiple department applications, subsystems and functions. </li>
<li>Strong oral and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Strong problem solving and analytical skills. </li>

Education:
 BS/BA Computer Science, Mathematics, or other related degrees Preferred
This position requires regular onsite work at our Carmel, Indiana office. Candidates must be able to commute to and work from this location as part of their role.
