Job purpose
The Senior Development Associate is responsible for alladministrative aspects of development and donor cultivationactivities. This position is a critical role that supports AFJ’sleadership and development team in fundraising, donor cultivation,and administration aligned with its mission and strategic plan.
Duties and Responsibilities

<li>Maintain EveryAction database records ensuring accurate and upto date information including gift entry, notes, contacts, andfollow ups.</li>
<li>Communicate with the Finance Department to receive requiredreports, wire transfers, check scans, and stock gifts and toreconcile monthly gift data with accounting.</li>
<li>Open and process mail and checks, coordinating with Operationsand Finance to ensure timely deposits and reporting.</li>
<li>Generate, print, mail, and track timely and accurateacknowledgement letters for donations.</li>
<li>Support the Foundations Relations Director with back-up supportfor data entry and tracking of grant payments.</li>
<li>Pull reports on donor data from EveryAction database.</li>
<li>Create and distribute weekly and monthly income reports.</li>
<li>Assist with planning and execution of donor outreach eventsthroughout the year.</li>

<li>Create and schedule social media posts via Hootsuite (this typically takes ~3 to 4 hours per month)</li>

Compensation:
The base hourly pay for this potion is $12.50, and you will have ample opportunities to earn additional income. You will be paid for each proofreading and editing project you complete and each applicant test you grade. You will also earn a 5% commission for all large project sales on which you were the customer service representative who gave the initial quote. With additional income, you will likely earn the equivalent of $14 per hour or higher on average.

Essential Functions
<ul>
<li>Signs checks as authorized by the Board of Directors including reviewing accounts payable documentation for compliance with established policies and procedures (proper approval, account coding, etc). Monthly accounts payable check volume is 600 checks issued valued between $900,000 to $1,200,000. </li>
<li>Performs internal audits on transactions posted to general ledgers to ensure accurate financial data, compliance with appropriate contracts and regulations and consistency with budgets; accounts for any discrepancies found, makes corrections as necessary and prepares monthly reports on results of those reviews.</li>
<li>Prepares and analyzes financial reports on a regular basis to report program utilization and profitability and for use in determining any action needed for the program.</li>
<li>Prepares budgets, budget revisions, funding requisitions and fiscal year end reports as required. Master budget receipts total 49 million; expenditures 47 million.</li>
<li>Provides complete and accurate information to supervisor and associates in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Exhibits a professional attitude at all times maintaining open communication with all RHA personnel.</li>
<li>Prepares application for the general contractors license. </li>
<li>Prepares cash flow statements to track cash availability.</li>
<li>Prepares lobbying reports and Limited Liability report.</li>
<li>Provides training to other staff as needed.</li>
<li>Serves as the backup for duties and responsibilities of other positions during leaves and vacancies.</li>
<li>Prepares Board resolutions as required.</li>
<li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li>

Special Requirements

<li>Must possess and maintain a valid NC driver’s license.</li>
<li>Drug testing, criminal background check and DMV check required.</li>

Desirable Education &amp; Training

<li>Bachelor’s degree in accounting and considerable experience in fund accounting, or an equivalent combination of training in a related field and accounting experience.</li>

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
<ul>
<li>Considerable knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles for governmental agencies as well as non-profits and for-profit entities.</li>
<li>Considerable knowledge of the laws, ordinances and regulations governing agency financial matters.</li>
<li>Considerable knowledge of the Housing Authority’s financial policies and practices.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of Federal Regulations and HUD notices regarding programs for Public and Indian Housing.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of standard office and recordkeeping practices.</li>
<li>Ability to prepare, analyze and evaluate financial reports.</li>
<li>Ability to interpret accounting records and reports for management.</li>
<li>Ability to read, analyze and interpret federal regulations.</li>
<li>Considerable computer experience including the ability to prepare complex spreadsheets and written documentation for presentation to a variety of users.</li>
<li>Ability to operate standard and specialized equipment used in the agency’s accounting process.</li>
<li>Ability to express technical ideas effectively in writing and orally. Serves as a proofreader for financial reports and departmental correspondence.</li>
<li>Ability to interpret legal documents for compliance issues.</li>
<li>Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other RHA staff, HUD staff and the general public. </li>
</ul>
Physical Demands: 
The work is sedentary work and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: manual dexterity, handling, hearing, mental acuity, reaching, speaking, talking, visual acuity in preparing/analyzing data/transcribe/using computer terminal/conducting extensive reading, visual acuity in operating motor vehicles, and walking.
