This position works the election poll sites only on Election Days and 1-2 trainings per Election.

<li>Effectively communicate with voters and other Election Board Workers</li>
<li>Be able to find voter names in the Electronic Poll Book, check voter ID, and process voter</li>
<li>Escort voters to voting machines, and retrieve ballot for the voter</li>
<li>Assist voter when needed</li>
<li>Set-up polling place the morning of the Election</li>
<li>Assist in closing the polling place at the end of Election Day</li>
</ul>
Requirements:
Election Day Worker Qualifications
Election workers must have the following qualifications:
<ul>
<li>U.S. Citizen</li>
<li>18 Years of age or older</li>
<li>Registered voter in Riley County</li>
<li>Resident of Riley County</li>
<li>Must be able to attend mandatory training </li>
<li>Work at least a 14 hour day without leaving the polling place</li>
<li>Cannot be on the ballot or related to anyone on the ballot in the precinct where appointed (except for Precinct Committeeman or Committeewoman)</li>

Job Purpose and Objectives: The Clerk I serves as a front-line administrative support position in the County Clerk’s Office, providing essential clerical and customer service duties to assist with the daily operations of the office. This position supports the maintenance of public records, assists in elections administration, processes official documents, and serves as a key point of contact for the public and other county departments. The role ensures accuracy, efficiency, and confidentiality in handling sensitive and official records while upholding the integrity and transparency of county government processes.

Essential Duties:
· Accept and review incoming documents for recording, filing, or certification
· Ensure documents meet statutory requirements for processing
· File, scan, and index records in both physical and digital systems
· Ensure all records are organized, secure, and accessible for internal use and public inquiries
· Register voters and update voter records
· Prepare materials for elections, including ballots, poll books, and supplies
· Greet and assist members of the public in person, by phone, or by email
· Provide information regarding county services, public records, elections, and licensing
· Handle sensitive documents and information in compliance with county policies and applicable laws

Requirements:
Position Requirements and Qualifications:

<li>Experience with data entry, recordkeeping, and customer service is highly desirable</li>

All Election Workers (Poll Workers) Must (under Ga. Election Code 21-2-92):
<ul>
<li>Shall be judicious, intelligent, and upright citizens of the United States.</li>
<li>Be a resident of or otherwise employed by the county in which appointed or reside in an adjoining County (waiver must be signed by county of residence, if outside Rockdale County).</li>
<li>Must be at least 16 years of age.</li>
<li>Be able to read, write, and speak the English language.</li>
<li>Cannot be a public officer nor a candidate.</li>
<li>Cannot be the parent, spouse, child, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in- law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law of a candidate whose name is to appear on the ballot in such election.</li>
<li>Have the patience and the ability to deal courteously with the public and coworkers.</li>
<li>Have reliable transportation to the polling place and training classes.</li>
<li>Be able to stand for long periods, bend, and have manual/physical dexterity.</li>
<li>Attend and complete mandatory training before each election.</li>
<li>Remain impartial and nonpartisan while working at the polls.</li>
<li>Be dependable and committed to the voting process.</li>

NOTE: Ga. Election Code Section 21-2-8 states that no person convicted of a felony shall serve as a poll officer unless his civil rights have been restored.
Below is a sample of the duties to be performed by the Elections Clerk (Poll Worker). Please read the requirements carefully and consider the responsibilities before applying. Note: This is a one-day assignment for each election in Rockdale County. Election Day is always on a Tuesday.

<li>Assists with opening the polling place and determining voting room arrangement.</li>
<li>Assists with verifying the seal number on the ballot transfer bag.</li>
<li>Assists with preparing the touchscreen voting units and scanner for voting.</li>
<li>Assists the Precinct Manager in any capacity, which may include filling out and signing election-related forms.</li>
<li>Assists with checking in voters to vote.</li>
<li>Must be flexible and willing to work in any position required at the precinct.</li>
<li>Instruct voter on how to mark their ballot and insert voted ballots into the scanner.</li>
<li>Advises voters to review their ballot before casting.</li>
<li>Assists with maintaining election equipment security throughout the election period.</li>
<li>Assists with keeping the voting stations clean.</li>
<li>Stands outside the entrance of the precinct to direct voters into the voting room.</li>
<li>Assist manager in closing voting at 7 p.m. by placing self at end of the line and notifying voters who approach that polls are closed.</li>
</ul>
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
<ul>
<li>Ability to fluently speak, read, and write English.</li>
<li>Basic skills using a tablet or computer.</li>
<li>Must be willing to work 12-14 hours on Election Day.</li>
<li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Must have excellent interpersonal skills to interact and cooperate with co-workers and to deal effectively with voters, poll watchers, electioneers, and the general public.</li>
<li>Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions given by the Precinct Managers.</li>
<li>The ability, with assistance, to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs., such as election equipment, ballots, supply boxes, etc.</li>
<li>Ability to recognize election issues and to promptly report any issues to the Precinct Manager as required.</li>
