ANIMAL SHELTER TECHNICIAN
Part-time Regular 20-29.75 hrs. per week
Animal Shelter Technicians are primarily tasked with feeding, watering, cleaning, and providing enrichment to animals (primarily dogs) who are brought to the shelter by Tooele City Police and Animal Control Officers because they were unable to reunite them with their owners in the field (for example no tag or chip) or the animal is alleged to be dangerous and is needing to be held while the due process proceedings take place. Initial intake may include basic general welfare evaluation and coordination with supervisor to determine if veterinary care is need for the animal's well being.
Shelter Technicians will also schedule appointments with the public, assist with reuniting owners with their animals, and assist with adoptions. 
Other tasks include answering phones or returning phone calls, processing forms, answering routine questions about shelter services, filing, and basic data input. 
This is a physically demanding job with routine lifting of 10-25 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Reaching, grabbing, bending, pulling, and working with unpredictable animals and jerking motions occurs daily. Cleaning animal feces, urine, and other animal fluids is an essential function of this position. The shelter is loud due to multiple barking dogs in a confined area. Appropriate PPE is provided.

Shelter staff may perform unpleasant tasks that are needed to test living and deceased animals for various diseases. Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Technician - Early Intervention ABA (BHT - EIABA) provides ABA-based interventions to support children ages 3-5 in a structured early intervention group setting. The BHT - EIABA assists in developing social, emotional, and behavioral competencies, focusing on communication, play, self-help skills, and potty training. Each BHT-EIABA is responsible for working with a group of three children, implementing individualized ABA strategies designed to increase independence, reduce maladaptive behaviors, and build school readiness skills.
Duties/Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>Adhere to program-specific and agency policy.</li>
<li>Attend and participate in all required supervision and training sessions. </li>
<li>Build positive relationships with teachers and staff in schools and programs. </li>
<li>Collaborate with Program Director, BCBA Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor, Administrative Staff, and Quality Assurance Director in monitoring processes.</li>
<li>Collaborate with the Behavior Consultant/Mobile Therapist and other treatment providers, participating in supervision and consultation. </li>
<li>Collect data as requested in the treatment plan and ensure meaningful data collection. </li>
<li>Complete daily progress reports and turn in paperwork within required timeframes.</li>
<li>Complete required reports to Childline and other agencies as necessary. </li>
<li>Contribute to the development of the child's treatment plan and crisis plan. </li>
<li>Engage the child/family in community activities and programs as indicated in the treatment plan. </li>
<li>Engage families using reflective listening, collaboration, empathy, and consideration of cultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs. </li>
<li>Engage parents or extended family members in interventions to transfer skills and foster positive relations. </li>
<li>Engage teachers or staff in interventions and utilize their input. </li>
<li>Engage the child in specific interventions from the treatment plan during each session. </li>
<li>Maintain all scheduled appointments with the family and child. </li>
<li>Maintain records and ensure they meet clinical documentation requirements. </li>
<li>Practice appropriate utilization of services as per the written order for each client.</li>
<li>Provide effective one-on-one interventions in all identified settings and communicate with the Behavior Consultant/Mobile Therapist if interventions are not effective. </li>
<li>Request assistance in implementing therapeutic interventions if unclear. </li>
<li>Respect the rules and policies of the institutions where treatment is delivered. </li>
<li>Show initiative and collaborate on therapeutic activities. </li>
<li>Teach child and family specific skills and competency development. </li>
<li>Transport the child and family when appropriate.</li>
<li>Use strength-based approaches and a positive attitude with the child and family.</li>

Minimum Job Requirements:
Educational Requirements:
Have a certification as a BCaBA.

Have a behavior analysis certification from an organization that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute.

Have a high school diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma and have completed a 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List as evidenced by a certification that includes the name of the responsible trainer, who is certified as a BCBA or BCaBA.

Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in providing ABA services and a minimum of 40 hours of training related to ABA approved by the Department or provided by a continuing education provider approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
