We are looking for the right Nurse Practitioner to perform medical assessments on United States Veterans as part of the VA's disability benefits process. 
In performing Disability Assessments, you will review medical records electronically through a web portal and perform a focused, in-person physical exam on each Veteran.
You will electronically document the exam findings required by the VA through the web portal.
The Nurse Practitioner DOES NOT make disability determinations. The United States Veterans Administration makes all disability determinations.
This role ONLY performs Disability Assessments on Veterans. You will NOT treat, and you will NOT prescribe medication in this position.
This position performs Disability Assessments on 3-5 Veterans per day, on average.

This position will have primary responsibility for monitoring the Civil Commitment post commitment process, and back up precommitment investigations. The person in this position will have skills with engagement and community coordination of resources with a goal of stabilization into community services. This position will also have the opportunity to support a small caseload of short-term intervention therapy with persons in crisis and work with our diversion teams to stabilize and connect our Marion County residents with long-term community supports. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Provide assessments and treatment of individuals and families, including groups; provide crisis assessment and intervention services and related duties as required. The primary responsibility of this class is to provide assessment and treatment services, crisis intervention, and treatment services, including intensive services, to individuals and their families with complex needs and diagnoses or to develop and implement specific services in the community. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Work under a supervisor who assigns work establishes goals and reviews the results for overall effectiveness. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Primary supervision of employees is not a responsibility of this classification; however, positions may act as lead workers as defined in the Marion County Personnel Rules. Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following Post-Commitment Monitoring Monitors all individuals under civil commitment, while inpatient and in the community. Determines necessity for and creates trial visits. Monitors all individual places on a trial visit, updates trial visits and completes revocations when necessary. Completes all court and state documents and reports. Attends court hearings. Provides consultation and training to hospitals, community members and agencies regarding the civil commitment process and procedures. Understands and works within the constraints of their role as a Post Commitment Monitor as well as maintains professional partnerships and boundaries with hospital staff and community professionals. Community Engagement Performs post commitment and investigations, as well as BRES services in the following locations: hospital and correctional environments, private residences, community organizations, and other environments as needed. Safely engages those under investigation. BRES Intake Screens all referrals to the BRES program for appropriateness. Provides intake evaluation, sets service goals for client's time in program. Coordinates use of Crisis Associates as needed for clients in BRES, with Respite Program Coordinator. BRES Case Management Connects client with community services, including but not limited to, benefits, community case management, community counseling, alcohol and drug programs, vocational resources, medical resources, and ongoing medication. Works closely with the Mental Health Specialist/ Associates at Marion County Jail and Adult Behavioral Health. Works closely with the Psychiatric Crisis Center and the Diversion Team to create alternatives to psychiatric hospitalization. Provide BRES Brief Counseling for clients on limited, as needed basis. Provide community outreach as needed. Community includes the courthouse, the annex, the jail, the mission or Simonka House, or any community location where a client may be found. Participates in diversion program meetings weekly. Provides case reviews of BRES clients. Discusses potential clients and services. Provides weekly mental health groups to participants of Lotus House. Other Job Duties Attends monthly PCC team meetings. Performs other job duties as assigned by the supervisor. Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on-line or in-person training. <li>Master's degree in psychology, social work, recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy or a behavioral science field; OR</li>
<li>Bachelor's degree in nursing, or occupational therapy and licensed by the State of Oregon; AND</li>
<li>One year of post-master's degree experience in the behavioral health field.</li>

<li>Must possess, or obtain within 6 months of hire, State of Oregon Civil Commitment Coordination and Investigation Certification.</li>

We are looking for the right Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to perform medical assessments on United States Veterans as part of the VA's disability benefits process.
In performing Disability Assessments, you will review medical records electronically through a web portal and perform a focused, in-person physical exam on each Veteran.
You will electronically document the exam findings required by the VA through the web portal.
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant DOES NOT make disability determinations. The United States Veterans Administration makes all disability determinations.
This role ONLY performs Disability Assessments on Veterans. You will NOT treat, and you will NOT prescribe medication in this position.
This position performs Disability Assessments on 3-5 Veterans per day.
