ChristianaCare is currently seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for our Radiation Oncology team at the Helen F. Graham Center located in Newark, DE. Must also be available to cross cover the other locations listed below as needed.

Our Team:
There are ten (11) Radiation Oncology Registered Nurses responsible for coverage at the three locations, with seven nurses scheduled to cover the high volume of patient visits at the main HFGCCRI location in Newark, three nurses covering the high acuity HDR patients at the Hospital, and one nurse at the Concord Health location.
Shift:

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

<li>Identifies potential barriers to care, to include but not limited to: transportation, psychosocial, financial, disparity, language, etc) and initiates referrals in a timely manner &nbsp;</li>
<li>Coordinate care with the research nurse in the interdepartmental management of patients requiring combined therapy (chemotherapy/hormonal/biological/radiation); navigates patient through course of treatment ensuring compliance with protocol. &nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Navigates patient through appointments including Radiation Oncology, Hematology/Oncology, Imaging, Laboratory, GYN Oncology, and Multidisciplinary Clinics (MDC)</li>

<li>Identifies barriers in the navigation process and seeks appropriate resources to mitigate barriers</li>

<li>Responsible for the coordination of care for patients undergoing high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy procedures including patient educations for pre- and post-surgery; scheduling OR or anesthesia; assisting Radiation Oncologist with actual procedure; inventory supplies; sterilization of instruments, cleaning. </li>
<li>Monitor/manage post-anesthesia pediatric patients undergoing radiation therapy in collaboration with professional staff from A I Dupont and other facilities where the pediatric patient is located.&nbsp; </li>
<li>Responsible for placing peripheral IVs and administering IV contrast and therapies, following established protocols and guidelines. This includes calculating GFR, selecting appropriate IV sites, and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of treatments.</li>
<li>Changes dressings, catheterizes patients for specific CTs, suction tracheotomies if needed, takes vital signs, triage patients for acute changes in condition.</li>
<li>Provides patient education, identifies barriers to education, and reiterates physician instructions and advice; collaborates with patient to establish realistic goals and activities to enhance patient self-management and participates in plan of care.&nbsp; </li>
<li>Coordinate neurosurgeons, breast surgeons, urologists, interventional radiologists, other specialists and intra/interdepartmentally all aspects of the scheduling involved with complex radiotherapy cases including total body irradiation, stereotactic radiation surgery, high dose rate brachytherapy, and low dose rate brachytherapy.&nbsp; </li>

Registered Nurse, Radiation Oncology Practice, Newark, DE

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is seeking applications for a clinical track faculty physician. The position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, on the clinical (non-tenure) track. Appointment to the rank of Instructor (non-track) may also be considered. This position is suited for dedicated and highly qualified radiation oncologists to join our team in providing exceptional clinical care in a community practice in Bettendorf, Iowa. This practice is integrated within the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center with onsite medical oncology services.
The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Iowa provides physics support, radiation therapists, nursing, and support staff. The practice participates in weekly quality assurance chart rounds with other affiliated sites and with practitioners at our main site in Iowa City. Conferences are remotely accessible.
Equipment includes a Varian 21iX linear accelerator, a Phillips Big Bore CT scanner and the Mosaiq oncology management system. Treatment planning is conducted with the Philips Pinnacle system.
Capabilities include 3D-conformal radiotherapy, electron therapy, kV cone-beam CT, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), 4D-CT, and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) treatments.

The Patient Access Coordinator is a member of the care service team and acts as a professional liaison for patients and families, care providers, as well as other Fred Hutch departments. <ul> Schedules all patient appointments related to treatment within the Fred Hutch as well as outside consults and referrals. Coordinates scheduling with other departments to ensure efficient patient flow.
<li>Works closely with patients, families, visitors, providers and staff to identify needs, answer questions, resolve problems, provide information and follow up. </li>
<li>Communicates with providers (physicians, therapists, etc.) technologists, and nurses regarding the patient's scheduling needs, treatment schedule, and additional requests. Notifies appropriate parties as needed. </li>
<li>Manages and prioritizes scheduling requests. </li>
<li>Recognizes emergency situations and initiates correct code procedures. </li>
<li>Supports the overall function of the department, and may be required to take on additional duties such as cross coverage, special projects, etc. </li>
<li>Assists with the training of new staff </li>
<li>Maintains the flow of the clinic/unit by coordinating with clinical staff to direct and monitor patient location </li>
