Associate Professor of Law (9-Mo-TT)

Position Summary
The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) currently consists of 16 attorneys working collaboratively to provide a full range of legal services to Columbia University. &nbsp;OGC is seeking an attorney to work primarily on employment related issues in connection with Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC).&nbsp; CUIMC is one of the nation’s largest academic medical centers, and includes the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, School of Dental Medicine, Mailman School of Public Health and School of Nursing. &nbsp;Experience in employment law is required. The ideal candidate would also have experience in a university or hospital setting or background in healthcare law. &nbsp;The Assistant/Associate title and salary will be commensurate with level of relevant experience.
Responsibilities

<li>Provide advice and counsel to the General Counsel and CUIMC clients on a wide range of faculty and other employee matters; Be responsible for employment related litigation and pre-litigation matters including: Support internal investigations and audits, Review and answer/direct subpoenas, and Participate in, oversee and provide guidance on mediation, arbitration, grievances and disciplinary actions, and collective bargaining;</li>

Part-Time Bilingual Reentry Specialist & Community Mediator

Job Description
The Community Health Worker Floater (CHW) will work across several program areas throughout the year to fill in for grant funded program staff on leaves of absence, vacation, unexpected attrition, or other exigencies as they arise. Administrative supervision (i.e. timesheets, professional development, performance evaluation) will be provided by the Grants Manager – Programs, while day-to-day programmatic supervision will be provided by the manager of whichever grant program they are covering at any given time. 
CHW may assist with a variety of concerns impacting individuals and families, including but not limited to, the control and prevention of chronic conditions or infectious diseases, behavioral health conditions, and need for preventive services. Additionally, CHW services can help patients receive appropriate services related to perinatal care, preventive care, sexual and reproductive health, environmental and climate-sensitive health issues, oral health, aging, injury, and domestic violence and other violence prevention services. CHWs tend to be members of the community they are serving and a larger component to linking health and social services for patients. 
Community Health Workers (CHW) provide a broad range of services focused on improving the lives of individuals, families, and communities through providing meaningful, culturally relevant connections to healthcare and healthcare related services, which address the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) on par with the provision of general and specialty medical services. CHWs service is informed through the lived experience of the CHW and their families, social circles, and communities.
At least one of these four positions will be a certified substance use disorder counselor.

Community Health Worker II will provide a higher level of education to paraprofessional staff in various disciplines. 
Screening and Linkage to Care – conduct various brief screenings with individuals and families to determine service needs and provide linked referrals with warm handoffs to services within St. John’s and in the community, ensuring services are those most culturally relevant to the individual/family. 
Assessment and Service Planning – assess individuals and families using approved tools to measure whether the SDOH are sufficiently addressed. Create individual and family service plans and document service needs, action plans, and progress on meeting SDOH necessities. Community Health Worker II will provide a deeper level of assessment using clinically intensive tools such as PHQ-9, GAIN-SS, Columbia Depression Scale, Beck Depression and Anxiety Inventories, and others. 
Case Management, Care Coordination, and System Navigation – assist individuals and families in identifying the most culturally competent and relevant services in relation to the service plan, whether internal to St. John’s or within the community, and provide direct linkage, warm handoff, and follow up on all referrals wherever possible. Ensure appropriate communication between all medical and psychosocial service providers, both internal and external, to coordinate clinical and logistical needs in order to best serve patient outcomes. 
Peer Support, Education, and Advocacy – provide individual support in the form of lay counseling to assist patients in managing their health and psychosocial service goals and action steps, may include appointment reminders, assisting with transportation, attending appointments with the patient to act as a cultural mediator with service providers, teaching how to navigate the larger service network within St. John’s and in the larger community. 
Training – develop and deliver various trainings surrounding health conditions and SDOH to St. John’s staff, community partners, and the general medical and social service systems.

We are looking for a Teacher Assistant to nurture and care for our little lambs. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and infant educational methods. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education.
Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Develop a careful and creative program suitable for Toddler children</li>
<li>Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children</li>
<li>Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem</li>
<li>Encourage children to interact with each other</li>
<li>Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (music, sensory, language, movement and crafts)</li>
<li>Supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times</li>
<li>Track children’s progress and report to parents</li>
<li>Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche</li>
<li>Collaborate with other educators</li>
<li>Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards</li>
</ul>
Skills

<li>Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and infant educational methods</li>
<li>Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms</li>
<li>Excellent communication and instructional skills</li>
