Hearing Aid Counseling • Discusses hearing test results and needs for amplification with patient/family • Explains benefits of personal amplification • Discusses various hearing aid options and recommends best option for patient • Makes ear mold impression(s) when patient decides on amplification • Orders appropriate hearing aid(s)/ear molds(s) • Maintains chart notes and paperwork subsequent to each visit
Hearing Aid Fitting/Orientation • Takes ear mold impression(s) and checks fit of ear mold(s) • Programs/adjusts trim pots as needed to find tune hearing aid(s) to patient satisfaction and appropriate response • Instructs patient/family on care of hearing aid(s)/batteries • Issues instruction material and battery warnings • Instructs patients or patient’s family on use of hearing aid(s); counsels patient/family on benefits of amplification and how to improve the patients listening environment • Verifies completion of orientation with checklist • Discusses contract and obtains acceptance signature and ordering deposit • Schedules follow-up appointments

Role Description
